Team Update
We would like to introduce you to our Education Team as part of our developing MDT (Multi-Disciplinary Team).
Ali Hird, Grace Ingleton and Abi Lakin are our new Education Achievement Officers. They are all experienced teachers and experienced adopters and are looking forward to using their knowledge and experience to offer support in education to families at Adoption East Midlands.
We are now taking referrals to our education team. Please contact us on education@adoptioneastmidlands.nottscc.gov.uk.
We would also like to introduce you to our new Youth Worker Rachel Atchinson.
Rachel has been a PALS worker with Adoption East Midlands for may years and she is working hard on developing a youth offer in our service. Details of what is on offer will be available in the coming months.
We welcomed Bethan Arden Jones, Speech and Language Therapist to the team in September. Bethan is now offering monthly consultation to families with or without a social worker.
Our Clinical Psychologists Helen Rodwell and Vicki Barratt continue to offer weekly consultation to families with or without a social worker.

This week, we also welcome Charlotte Merchant to our multi disciplinary team as Advanced Social Work Practitioner who will be supporting our education team and youth team to develop their work as part of the multi disciplinary team.
Recruitment Update
We are pleased to announce that we are about to start recruitment to our new Family Peer Support Worker role.
This is a newly established post in response to the development of adopter voice participation and lived experience into our service offer. The role will involve working creatively alongside AEM staff to develop an adopter peer mentoring service through the recruitment, development, and support of experienced adopter peer mentor volunteers.

We are also recruiting to a Developmental Trauma and Attachment Specialist Social Worker. The focus of the role will be to develop the support offer to adopted children and young people who are experiencing difficulties with developmental trauma and attachment where this is specifically impacting on their mental health needs.

Co-Production Work
We currently have three co-production groups running in the service.
Our Education Co-Production Group meet approximately every two months and they have been active in supporting us with the development of our education offer and thinking about how we might support schools and families to approach learning from a trauma informed approach.
Our complex trauma group also meet approximately every two months and we’ve recently met with Bethan Arden-Jones our speech and language therapist and thought about how we might start conversations about communication and language with teachers in schools.
We have just begun a teenagers co production group. This group is currently being led by Adoption UK and includes AEM staff. The hope is that this group can support us to understand more the challenges around parenting teenagers and we hope to feed this learning into how we support our parents whilst working with their young people as part of the youth offer.
