What happens if I die in service?
If you die in service as a member of the LGPS the following benefits are payable:
- A lump sum death grant of three times your assumed pensionable pay
- Pensions for eligible children
- A spouse’s from an opposite sex or same sex marriage, civil partner’s or an eligible cohabiting partner’s pension (subject to certain qualifying decisions).
Your HR Department will normally notify us of the death and provide all the necessary pay information so that we can make the arrangements to put your dependents' pensions into payment as quickly as possible.

Change to personal circumstances
